Is it mandatory to have a UAE visa for Australian citizens?
Australian citizens must apply for a UAE visa if they plan to stay longer than 30 days for tourism. Diplomatic and official passport holders must obtain a visa before travelling independently of the days of their trip.
If your trip is shorter, you can receive a multiple-entry visa on arrival in the international airports of Abu Dhabi and Dubai free of charge. Once you arrive, you will need to proceed to Immigration, where your passport will be stamped with a 30-day visit permission.
In case you exit the UAE during this period, you will not receive another new visa. For example, if you exit the UAE on the 10th day of your visa and return on the 25th day, you must exit the UAE again within 5 days because you will have the same visa.
You can ask for an extension of the 30 days by applying for an online visa for UAE or by contacting the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in the UAE.
