Do Indian citizens need a visa for Vietnam?
Yes, it is necessary to process a visa, and you will not be able to enter Vietnam without it being approved. You must apply for a Vietnam evisa whether you are visiting the country for tourism or for business purposes.
How do I apply for a Vietnam visa for Indian?
There are three systems of processing a visa for Vietnam if you are an Indian citizen:
Electronic visa Vietnam or Vietnam e-Visa
This is the method we recommend the most. It is the easiest and fastest way to apply for a visa to Vietnam. It usually takes an average of 48 hours to receive the approved document by email.
You can obtain two types of Vietnam e-visas. The first is valid for 30-day stays and allows only one entry for tourism or business purposes, while the second allows multiple entries, each for up to 90 days. Please make sure you meet the Vietnam visa requirements for Indian citizens to apply for it. The process is entirely done online: you will have to fill in an online form with your data, contact, passport, and the necessary information requested.
Once you arrive at the airport you will only need to present the approved visa and your original passport to enter the country.
The documents you need for this electronic visa are:
- Scanned copy of your passport. Make sure your passport is displayed correctly, and do not to miss any important detail.
- Recent good quality photo in colour
The cost of the entire process is around 4100 INR which includes government fees and management services.
Visa-on-arrival in Vietnam
The visa on arrival process consists of two parts. The first part is an online application. You will fill this form, pay the fee of the government, and wait for the response, which will take an average of 5 days. For this first part, you will need to have your passport ready to fill out the online form and you must attach the passport page with your biometric data. Please note that the passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into the country.
After the reviewing of your application by the government authorities, you will receive in your email a document that verifies that you already have the first part of your visa accepted. You must print and take this document with you to show when you enter Vietnam, along with your original passport, which must have at least two blank pages for the visa stamp. The authorities will stamp it there. This procedure can take you between 30-45 minutes.
If you plan on applying for a visa on arrival, make sure you will arrive in Vietnam through one of these airports:
- Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi)
- Cam Ranh International Airport (Nha Trang)

The cost of stamping your passport will be about 1900 INR for single entry visas and 3800 INR for multi-entry visas, regardless of whether the validity is for one or three months.
