Turkish citizens can visit 10 Greek islands with a new visa
by Pilar Dujan | February 23, 2024Citizens of Turkey that wish to spend a fun summer on the beautiful islands of Greece will be able to apply for a new fast-track temporary visa, as announced by the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
This new Greek visa will be applied for on arrival and it will allow the holder to stay in 10 Greek islands for up to seven days. This is a step up for Turkish travelers, who as of now have to go through a lengthy and tedious visa application process at the Greek Consulate in Izmir.
Those who manage to obtain the new fast-track visa will be able to spend their holidays on the following Greek islands: Chios, Kalymnos, Kastelorizo, Kos, Leros, Lesbos, Limnos, Rhodes, Samos and Symi. These are all located on the Aegean sea, close to Turkey, and they receive many visitors from the country every year.
The Greek tourism industry met this news with praise and glee at the prospect of increasing the number of tourist arrivals from Turkey. They hope it will be in place by the time the summer starts.
