You will need to have a valid passport, which must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date in Egypt. You will also need a credit or debit card and an email address.
You can stay a maximum of 30 days per visit. You can choose either a single-entry visa or a multiple-entry visa.
With Visagov, you can apply for an Egypt visa online easily in three simple steps:
  • Complete the Egypt eVisa form with accurate information about yourself and your trip.
  • Review your application to ensure it is complete and that the information provided is correct. Once you are sure everything is accurate, proceed with the payment. If any additional documents are required, make sure to include them during the application process.
  • Wait to receive your visa via email within a few days.
You can choose either of the two eVisas if you are traveling to Egypt for tourism, business meetings, conferences, or to visit family. While business meetings are allowed, working with the intention of receiving remuneration is not permitted.
The cost of the visa for Egypt depends on the type of visa you choose:
  • The single-entry eVisa costs approximately 23 euros / 25 USD / 19 GBP.
  • The multiple-entry eVisa costs approximately 54 euros / 60 USD / 46 GBP.
We recommend applying for your visa at least 5 days before your trip. While it is usual to receive the approved eVisa via email within a maximum of 3 days, it is always advisable to plan ahead and allow extra time in case unexpected issues arise.
You will not be able to edit your Egypt visa application once it has been submitted to the government. Please fill out the application form with the necessary documentation at hand and pay close attention to the information you provide. If you make any mistakes, you will need to reapply for the eVisa and start the process over.
Egypt requires travelers coming from a country with a risk of yellow fever transmission to present a yellow fever vaccination certificate. Additionally, some travelers must be vaccinated against polio. You can read this article on vaccinations for Egypt for more information on vaccination requirements and health tips.
The entry requirements for Egypt are: having a valid passport, an approved visa for Egypt and vaccination against yellow fever or polio (not always required, only depending on your personal situation).

Certain nationalities are exempt from obtaining a visa for Egypt:

  • Citizens of EU countries, the United States, and Israel (only through the land border at Taba) do not need a visa if they stay for no more than 14 days in Sharm el-Sheikh, Nuweiba, Dahab, and Taba. For all other regions in Egypt, a valid Egyptian visa is required.
  • Citizens of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates can stay for up to 180 days without a visa.
  • Citizens of Hong Kong, Jordan, and Macao can stay for up to 90 days without a visa. Jordanian citizens must have a regular passport valid for 5 years that does not contain a "Jordan Registration Office" stamp on the back cover of the passport, on page 60. Holders of "T-Series" passports cannot benefit from the visa exemption.
  • Citizens of Malaysia can stay for up to 15 days without a visa.
If your nationality is not listed, you are traveling to other regions of Egypt, or you plan a longer trip, you will need to obtain a visa for Egypt. The good news is that many nationalities are eligible to apply for an Egypt eVisa.

The Egypt eVisa can be processed entirely online and is received electronically. Visagov offers the option to apply for two types of visas: single entry or multiple entries (both with an urgent processing option).

You cannot work, study, or reside in the country with a tourist visa, but you can have business meetings, or visit family members.

Having an approved Egypt visa does not guarantee entry into the country. If you have provided false information or omitted relevant details that may pose a threat, the immigration officers may deny entry. You should never lie about your information, and you should check your details thoroughly before submitting a visa application.
