Requirements for ETA Application

Applying for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) is a simple process. You will only need:

Most foreign visitors to the United Kingdom must obtain authorization before entry. The only exceptions are British nationals, British citizens, British subjects, and Irish citizens.

Starting April 2, 2025, citizens of European countries will also need an ETA to enter the UK, with applications opening on March 5, 2025. Additionally, beginning January 8, 2025, travelers from Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and certain other non-European countries that currently don’t require visas will need an ETA. They can start applying on November 27, 2024.

If you are from a country not eligible for an ETA, you will need to apply for a Visitor Visa, which allows multiple entries for stays of up to 6 months each.
To get your UK ETA you will need to submit the following documents:
  • Valid passport
  • Recent personal photograph
If you are able to apply for the UK ETA online, you will just need to follow these steps:
  • Fill out the application form. Provide all the information as it appears in your valid passport regarding personal details and your stay in the country.
  • Review that the application is complete with accurate information. If you are sure, proceed to make the payment.
  • You're done with the application! Just wait to receive the ETA directly in your email in a few days.
