Mexico Multiple Immigration Form: More information

The Mexico FMM (Forma Migratoria Multiple or Multiple Immigration Form) is also known as the tourist card. It is mandatory for every foreign citizen wishing to enter the country via land, even if the person is only in transit to another country. Depending on your nationality, you might need to apply for a visa on top of the Mexico Tourist Card.

The Mexico Tourist Card can only be applied for online before traveling: you will be required to present it at the border. Fortunately, applying through Visagov will allow you to access a simplified form, which you will be able to complete in a matter of minutes.

You will be required to detail your planned travel dates on the application form. This information will determine the cost and documentation needed in order to apply. If you travel for up to 7 days, you will not have to pay the government fees. If you travel for more than 7 days, you will have to pay the fees and you will be asked to provide a copy of your passport.

With the Mexico FMM card you cannot work, study or reside in the country, as this form is exclusively for tourism purposes. However, it can be used to enter the country for business meetings or to visit family members.

Having an approved Mexico Tourist Card does not guarantee entry to the country. If you lie or omit information that may be relevant, or create a threat to the country, the officers in charge of the immigration department may deny entry. You should never lie about your information when filling in the application form, and you should check that the information is correct before submitting it.
