Some countries can go on safari without paying for the Kenya eTA

Kenya has recently made some important changes to its visa policy. For starters, foreign citizens no longer need to apply for the visa to Kenya. Now, those traveling for tourism need to obtain the Kenya eTA

As an added measure to boost its tourist arrivals, Kenya has now decided to waive the eTA fees for certain countries. If you are a citizen of Ethiopia, South Africa, Eritrea, Congo-Brazzaville, Mozambique, Comoros or San Marino, you can apply for the eTA Kenya free of charge

Even though there are no fees attached, citizens of those countries (and all others) still need to get their travel authorization before arriving in Kenya: it’s part of the mandatory entry requirements for Kenya.

The Ethiopian Ambassador to Kenya met this recent news with gratitude and joy. He issued a statement saying: “My heartfelt thanks and appreciations to the Government of Kenya for its prompt response and kind decision to remove Ethiopian citizens from Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) related electronic payment requirement. We kindly inform our citizens that they can enter Kenya without any requirement for a visa and its related payment, but the requirement to fill out the eTA form online before arrival remains mandatory”.

The eTA is not a visa: it is an electronic travel authorization. It is a single-entry permit, with a 90-day validity. It has a cost of 30 USD/32 EUR. You can apply easily and quickly, and in your own language, on our website.
